2/10/2018-LHP Josh Tols, who played for the Las Vegas Train Robbers and Trinidad Triggers in 2014 has signed with the Philadelphia Phillies. He has been assigned to Class AA Reading (PA) Fightin Phils and will report to Spring Training in Clearwater, FL, March 1st.
About Tols, his former manager with the Triggers, JD Droddy, said, "Ive been blessed to have the opportunity to manage some outstanding young men, but none has combined heart and talent to a greater degree than Josh. The tape measure says the he is 5"6" tall, but he pitches like a big-bodied flame thrower, who also has great control and movement."
After the 2014 season, Tols played for his hometown Adelaide Bite of the Australian Baseball League in their 2014-2015 season and again in their 2015-16 season. He played in the American Association for the Kansas City T-Bones. He was selected for the Australian National Team and participated in the 2017 World Baseball Classic. He played in Japan during the summer of 2017. In 2016-17 and 2017-2018 ABL seasons he played for the Melbourne Aces. He was signed with the Winnipeg Goldeyes for the 2018 American Association season.
