11/15/2012-Pecos League to go with 10 teams 72 game schedule.
Opening day will be between May 13-16 for all teams. There will be very few off days as the last day of the regular season is July 26th.
The Pecos League will cover two states, four area codes and two time zones.
All six teams from 2012 will return.
The Alpine 06 Cowboys will begin their fifth season of play.
The Las Cruces Vaqueros will be in their 4th season of play.
The Roswell Invaders and the White Sands Pupfish will be in third season.
The Trinidad Triggers and Santa Fe Fuego will be in their second season.
The All Star game will be held in July 6th.
The league will send the four teams to the playoffs.
The Pecos League originally wanted to expand by two teams. After analysis of travel and logistics it made much better financial sense to expand by four teams.
Pecos Texas will add the Pecos Bills and play at renovated Martinez Field in Reeves County Texas. Pecos Texas is located in the heart of the Permian Basin 51 miles South of Carlsbad on US 285 and 100 Miles West of Midland, Texas on Interstate 20. The Pecos Bills will be the first league operated team in the state of Texas. The Bills will play in the Southern Division of the Pecos League.
Taos New Mexico will add the Taos Blizzard and play at Taos Baseball Park. The New York State League will operate the baseball operations of the Blizzard. Taos is located 64 miles north of Santa Fe, 73 miles northwest of Las Vegas and 97 Miles Southwest of Raton. The Blizzard will play the fewest amount of home games in the Pecos League. The Blizzard will play in the Northern Division of the Pecos League.
Las Vegas New Mexico will add the Las Vegas Train Robbers and play at Las Vegas City Park.
Las Vegas is the most centrally located city in the Pecos League on Interstate 25. Vegas is 63 miles north of Santa Fe, 151 miles north of Roswell, 100 miles south of Raton and 73 miles southwest of Taos.
Raton New Mexico will be the final city in the Pecos League for the 2013 season. The City of Raton proudly welcomes a team of their own that will be called the Osos and play at beautiful Gabirele Park. Raton is 21 miles from Trinidad and 100 miles from Las Vegas on Interstate 25.
