5/9/2017-The Pecos League is preparing for its 7th season on May 24th in Santa Fe and has the wildest offseason in league history.
At the end of the 2016 season the Tucson Saguaros were crowned champions defeating the Trinidad Triggers.
The Pecos League had a 10 team league with two divisions of five in 2016.
The Northern Division had Topeka, Great Bend, Salina, Garden City and Trinidad.
The Southern Division had Alpine, Tucson, Roswell, White Sands and Santa Fe.
When Minor League Baseball left Bakersfield and High Desert the Pecos League accepted the challange and the opportunity.
The Pecos League added Monterey and California City to complete a four team division.
Joplin was also scratched from Pecos League plans due to distance.
The Pecos League originally planned to play in Amarillo as the Lone Stars
but the Potter County Commision decided to eliminate Pro Baseball from Amarillo.
This caused the final dominio effect that removed the Salina Stockade from the Pecos League.
The Hollywood Stars were entered a travel team and the divisions were split Pacific and Mountain.
Pacific-Tucson, Monterey, Hollywood, California City, Bakersfield and High Desert.
Mountain-Garden City, Trinidad, Santa Fe, Roswell, White Sands and Alpine.
When everyone thought the dust settled, the Pecos League was asked to operate and run the travel team in the American Association.
The Pecos League accepted and brought the Salina Stockade into the American Association. They replaced the Laredo Lemurs in the Southern Division.
Spring Training begins for the Salina Stockade on May 13 with opening game in Wichita on May 18th.
Spring Training begins for the Pecos League in Alamogordo, Alpine, Santa Fe, Garden City, Tucson, Bakersfield and High Desert on May 16. Opening day is May 25 for all teams except White Sands and Santa Fe who open on May 24.
