3/5/2017-Here is a brief history of the Houston Apollos as they take the field for their 15th year in the 2017 Pecos Spring League.
The Houston Apollos are a baseball team owned by Andrew Dunn and formed and based out of Houston, Texas.
The Apollos played in the Big States League until 2006. The Apollos also played in MSBL, Bama Bash, New Orleans Classic, Alamo Cup, Stan Musial World Series, NBC World Series and Coastal Baseball League.
The Apollos were mainstays in Tournaments in Louisiana and Alabama in the late 2000's.
In 2009 the Houston Apollos were invited by Ron Baron of the Continental League to go into Independent Professional Baseball. The Apollos didn't accept and the Coastal Kingfish took their place. The Apollos have played in all six seasons of the Pecos Spring League 2012-2017.

When the NFL expanded to Houston in 2001 the team was narrowed down the five names.

It was widely believed the name would be Apollos to continue the space theme with Astros, Rockets, Comets and Aeros. But the Houston NFL owner choose Texans as the name for his team. The Houston Apollos baseball team was formed one month later and have used the name for 15 years.
Over 300 high level baseball players have played for the Houston Apollos over the past 15 years.
