2/11/2017-LHP Josh Tols, who played for the Las Vegas Train Robbers and Trinidad Triggers in 2014, has been selected to play on the Australia National Team in the World Baseball Classic (WBC), an event that takes place only once every four years. The 2017 WBC will be held March 6-22 and will feature 16 teams that qualified for the event last year. It will be broadcasted around the world. In the U.S., it will be carried in English by the MLB network. Most of the players in the WBC have Major League experience. As an example of just a few MLB players who will be playing in this years WBC are Robinson Cano (the 2013 WBC MVP), Paul Goldschmidt, Nolan Arenado, Buster Posey, Brandon Crawford, Xander Bogaerts, Andreleton Simmons, Didi Gregorious, Justin Morneau, John Axeford, Ryan Dempster, Adrian Beltre, Jose Bautista, and Giancarlo Stanton. Those names are only the beginning.

Tols, who hails from Adelaide, Australia, began the 2014 season with the Las Vegas Train Robbers. The Triggers later acquired him via trade. After the 2014 Pecos League season, Tols played in the Australian Baseball League, where he earned Rookie of the Year honors. He also set (and still holds) the ABL records for wins in a season, which he set that year, even though he was a relief pitcher. After the 2014-2015 season, he went to the Kansas City T-Bones, where he has played each year since.
