5/29/2012-5/27/2012-The Pecos League has received many questions as to why so many runs are being scored in their games this year. Many people immediately assume the problem is the lack of pitching in the Pecos League. Others have complained about the umpiring being too tight. But if you look closely the pitching and hitting in the Pecos League is better right now than it was in 2011. The scientific answer to why so many runs are being scored is real simple. In the off season of 2012 The Pecos League came to an agreement to use a Rawlings Baseball. In 2011 the league used Pro Nine Baseballs. The Rawlings Baseball the Pecos League is using has a much better cushioned cork center, tighter laces and better winding than a Pro Nine Ball. "These balls really fly, there is a big difference this year." says Trinidad Field manager Justin Lowery. Lowery's team is one of many teams that have played in Las Cruces this year where the Vaqueros have completely bombed teams with huge innings loaded with consecutive extra base hits. Santa Fe is also a complete launching pad with 7000 foot elevation and short fences. Roswell has the lowest altitude and the deadest air in the league at 3600 feet. Fans can easily see the Invaders are averaging 5 runs a game at home and 13 runs a game on the run.
