4/11/2012-Most baseball leagues donated baseballs, bats and bases to the cities which they play in. The Pecos League is taking things a step further in Alamogordo New Mexico the home of the White Sands Pupfish. Pecos League Commisioner Andrew Dunn is donating a 5 foot alligator to the Alameda Zoo in Alamogordo. Every year Dunn and several others drive the equipment needed for the season from Houston Texas to New Mexico. This year the truck will be a little crowded with a 5 foot gator. The Gator will join Rocky another five foot alligator that currently resides in the zoo.
Acquiring a second gator was going to be costly for the city of Alamogordo. The city has recently made a large exhibit in hopes of acquiring a second alligator. The Alligator will come from Port Arthur Texas where gators are considered a nuisance. Dunn and the city of Alamogordo are in process of acquiring a travel permit to cross the gator across the New Mexico State Line. The Gator is set to arrive in Alamogordo on April 28th which is Earth Day in Alamogordo.
