Five first-inning runs helped the White Sands Pupfish (19-22) to an 8-5 win over the Bisbee Blue (25-18) on Thursday.
The White Sands Pupfish scored in the first on a wild pitch, a groundout by Yermin Mercedes, a groundout by Willie Miller, a solo home run by Preston Lyon, and an RBI single by Jacob Anderson.
Miguel Castano paced the White Sands Pupfish at the plate. Castano went 4-5 and scored two runs. He doubled in the second inning and singled in the first, sixth, and eighth innings.
Mike Ormseth picked up the win for the White Sands Pupfish. Ormseth pitched seven innings and allowed two earned runs, seven hits and two walks while striking out four.
Daniel Aldrich racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Bisbee Blue. He singled in the third inning and homered in the ninth inning.
Matt Horan (4-2) took the loss for the Bisbee Blue. He allowed eight runs in six innings, walked three and struck out three.
