Numerous off season facility upgrad
Numerous off season facility upgrades are occuring in the Pecos League.
Alamogordo-The White Sands Pupfish will be adding a club house and seating for around 450 with grandstands that are 10 rows deep. The Pupfish will continue to improve upon Griggs Park.
Las Cruces-
The Las Cruces Vaqueros will be installing a completely new grandstand to replace their tradition racetrack structure. It will have seating for 750 and be ready on or before March 15th. The roof and all existing structures will come down they will be replaced by a sails to provide shading. This is a major help for the Vaqueros who can expect capacity to triple from 2011 season.
Roswell-The Roswell Invaders are considering moving to NMMI which would be one of better facilites in the league. A much better surface and better lighting.
Trinidad-Trinidad is completely rebuilding its grandstand after earthquake damage last fall. The construction is expected to be ready for high school/junior college season which starts soon.

Several 2011 Pecos League Players h
Several 2011 Pecos League Players have headed to Australia to play winter ball. Rob Hermann and JT Putt from the Las Cruces Vaqueros, Brian Fowler, AJ Morris and Josh Cakebread from the Roswell Invaders and fan favorite Kieran Bradford from the White Sands Pupfish/Carlsbad Bats have traveled across the world to play this winter. Cakebread and Bradford live are from Australia the others are looking to keep sharp in Winter Ball.

With the positive election in Santa Fe City Council Meeting the Pecos League pieces are beginning to finalize. The Pecos League will go with either 68, 70 or 72 game schedule. The following teams will be in the Pecos League for 2012 season:

The big city council election in Sa
The big city council election in Santa Fe wasn"t the only vote going on in Santa Fe. The Pecos League managers voted on the DH and the vote was 6-0 in favor of having a DH in entire season.
In the 2011 the Pecos League did not have a DH for the first half of the season. It was complicated in the Pointstreak scoring system and caused a huge range of inaccurate stats. The National Rules were popular via fans and made managing a real challenge but the Pecos League was the only independent league to go with no DH.

The final decision on the alcohol in Santa Fe will be voted on tonight at 7PM. This decision will drastically effect the future of the Pecos League. The issue at stake is alcohol in Fort Marcy Park and the support of citizens. Santa Fe has many political groups that fight anything that tries to come into town. A business could come into town and give 20 dollar bills out to the public on Alta Vista Road and there would be political groups for and against this. The facts are simply Fort Marcy sits vacant in the Summer the Pecos League is not asking for money from the city to play there and will not have any negative issues or problems by having a team there. If alcohol is voted in then the Pecos League is set for the 2012 season with six teams and no travel team. This also will open the door for Taos New Mexico to get a team for the 2013 season and formally put the Pecos League on the New Mexico Map. Although the Las Cruces Vaqueros have been in operation since 2009, and the Roswell Invaders, Ruidoso Osos, Carlbad Bats and White Sands Pupfish played in 2010, no one took notice in the State of New Mexico. No one North of Interstate 40 knew the Pecos League existed until now. A team in the Santa Fe market would really help not only the City of Santa Fe but the entire Pecos League. This includes non New Mexico teams of Alpine and Trinidad. If Santa Fe votes down alcohol it will be another city that had huge potential blocked by city leaders like Carlsbad and Clovis. For those against alcohol they have little knowledge of how far the Pecos League has come in New Mexico. Alcohol is a neccessity for any professional sports team at any level. New Mexico is the center of the Pecos League and Santa Fe is the Center of New Mexico, we would love to play ball in Santa Fe in 2012. If we are unwelcome we will pack our bags and load up the truck and goto another city that welcomes us.

After touring numerous cities it is most likely that the Pecos League will field six teams in the 2012 season. The Las Cruces Vaqueros, White Sands Pupfish, Roswell Invaders, Alpine Cowboys and Trinidad Triggers are awaiting the City Council Vote on November 9th in Santa Fe when the City Council will vote on alcohol sales in Fort Marcy Park. Should this election be positive then the Pecos League could be set with their six teams. If the election is not positive then the Pecos League will explore other options with Taos, Raton, Durango or Bisbee. The Pecos League will look to be in Pueblo and Taos for the 2013 Season.
"Six solid teams in the way to go eliminating a travel team is best for the league" says Matt McDermott IndependentBaseball.net Publisher. "Having six teams with no travel teams will make all six teams competitive and keep the pitching staff stronger. For a competitive balance we do not want another situation like Carlsbad. We would like winning percentage in the league to be between .400 and .600" says Andrew Dunn.

Alamogordo, NM- Keith Essary resigned today from the White Sands Pupfish. Keith wanted to comeback to the Pupfish for the 2012 season but a local uprising from fans threatened team support if he returned.
The problems with Essary occured with off field behavior of his players. Keith also buried himself with his newspaper comments to the Ruidoso Osos. Keith was involved in the loser leaves town bar fight in Alamogordo.
Essary was probably the leagues most successful manager on the field he narrowly missed the playoffs. Keith lead the Pupfish to a 2nd place record in the Pecos League. He antics on the road made him the most hated coach on the road. Essary is going to be a candidate for open coaching positions in the Northern Division of the Pecos League. "It is best interest of Pecos League for Keith not to be Alamogordo for 2012 season, if a position opens up in the Northern Division he will be considered and should jump on it. Keith has stated he will only return to Alamogordo but if the opportunity does occur he should reconsider. Keith did an excellent job on the field and will learn from his season in 2012." says Andrew Dunn

The Pecos League of Professional Baseball Clubs has announced they will be going with Rawlings as the official baseball for the 2012 season. Rawlings is the official ball of Major League Baseball, Minor League Baseball, the American Association, the Frontier League and the CanAm League. In 2011 the Pecos League attempted to get baseballs from Rawlings but Rawlings was not interested in the Pecos League. Now that the Pecos League has expanded into Colorado, Rawlings is willing to jump on board. The deal between the Pecos League and Rawlings was struck when the Pecos League intended to play in Pueblo, Colorado which is a Rawlings hotbed. In Pueblo the college baseball park in named after Rawlings and the Rawlings Brand is a major supporter of Colorado Baseball. The Pecos League won"t play in Pueblo until 2013 but Rawlings agreed to stay on board with a team in Trinidad. Rawlings does not have a sales rep in the state of New Mexico as was unaware of the Pecos League. The Pecos League will be making custom baseballs with team logos, multi color seems and sponsor logos. The Baseballs will have the very familiar Rawlings Logo on them. In 2011 the Pecos League used ProNine Baseballs. ProNine was the only company that would work with the Pecos League in 2011. The Pecos League went through around 1180 dozen baseballs in a six team league. Now numerous companies expressed interest and Rawlings is obviously the best baseball. The Cushioned Cork Center will cause for some long shots in high altitude parks. ProNine was known as a pitchers ball because of its dead cork. In 2010 the Big Bend Cowboys and Las Cruces Vaqueros used ProNine Baseballs. In the middle of the 2011 season ProNine shipped the Pecos League 10 cases of high school baseballs with high seems. ProNine said they didn"t know the difference in a high school and a pro baseball leaving the Pecos League out to dry. Pitchers were forced to use the balls. The Pecos League had no choice but to use them until replacements could be located. Pro Nine also missed its shipment dates twice. "Basically we are getting a better ball for the same price and when our players get called up to higher leagues they are comfortable using a Rawlings Ball, that is what they will be using in the American Association, Frontier League and Affliated Baseball."

The Pecos League of Professional Baseball Clubs has announced they will have their own umpiring crew for the 2012 season. The umpires will be full time umpires and will be provided housing as well as pay. The Pecos League is currently scheduled to have either six or eight teams. If there are eight teams there will be four full time crews, if there are six teams there will be three full time crews. The Pecos League will have a person in charge of assiging umpires and coordination of suspensions/league conduct. "In 2011 the majority of problems on the field was a direct result of inexperienced umpires. As the season progressed the umpires improved but there aren"t enough umpires in New Mexico to begin with. There was major inconsistancy between towns with umpires." The cost will be the same or less and the quality of umpiring will be much higher. Sending umpires directly from umpire school to the Pecos League is ideal for both the umpires and the Pecos League.
- Las Cruces was the only city that had quality consistant umpiring as the Vaqueros often were able to get El Paso Diablo alternate umpires.
- Roswell had no umpires and constantly had to get umpires from Ruidoso.
- Alpine had an umpiring crew that held the team hostage demanding high wages and three man crews.
- Alamogordo actually established there own crew with five umpires working but only two were actually qualified to work the plate at games.
- Trinidad has access to umpires from Pueblo but mileage is a concern
- Santa Fe has access to umpires in ABQ but mileage is again a concern
- Taos has limited umpires that are qualified.

The Pecos League of Professional Baseball Clubs has begun signing players for the 2012 season and the first tryout camp was held in Houston Texas on 10/8/2011. The Trinidad Triggers signed catcher Brayden Rodriguez from Austin, Tx and Travis Latz from Tomball Texas. Travis played in Germany in the 2011 season. The Las Cruces Vaqueros signed Jesse Olivar. Jesse will come into camp with possiblity of serving dual roles SS/Reliver. Jesse attended the tryout camp and was originally invited to the Vaqueros Spring Training in 2010. Alpine will be inviting Jeremy Bueno and Robert Gordon to spring training.
Where would you rather go Taos or R
Where would you rather go Taos or Ruidoso? This is the question Texas Tourists have been asking themselves for years. Now the Pecos League is finding itself in the same question. Except the question won"t be who has the most snow and better slopes it will be which city can support a baseball team in the Pecos League.
The Pecos League is process of attempting to form a Northern Division. Currently the Santa Fe Mountain Lions and Trinidad Triggers will play in the 2012 season in the Pecos League. The Madrid Miners will be the 7th team and we play limited home games at Fort Marcy Park in Santa Fe. The Taos Blizzard of Northern New Mexico appear to be the most logical selection, Taos is perfectly located between Trinidad and Santa Fe. Taos has a new sports promotion department and has huge support for its state of the art Eco-Center Soccer Complex. Officials in Taos are optimist that they can get lights and beer in their facility. Currently their situation is almost identical to that of the Ruidoso Osos. A ski town, no lights, high school owned park, small population, but ideally located into emerging Pecos League Cities. Does the Pecos League need to goto eight teams for the 2012 season? If Taos is a no go then it will likely have six teams with Santa Fe and Trinidad joining the other four existing teams in the south. The Pecos League will be visiting Taos in the month of October.
- Pueblo was slated to be the 4th team but that failed with possiblity of Pueblo West and too few dates for 2012 season.
- Farmington New Mexico would not allow alcohol
- Clovis wouldn"t allow home games until June 18 despite having a vacant field and had no political support
- Carlsbad has absolutely no support for anything and barely got Lowe"s and Wal Mart to come to town much less a baseball team
- Ruidoso was slated to remain in the Pecos League but this would have pushed Roswell to the Northern Division and drove travel costs up for everyone. Ruidoso still has no lights and no beer. They have great fans and are located in the middle of the Pecos League. The Pecos League plans to bring the Osos back into the Southern Division in 2013.
This also should be a note that every place the Pecos League scheduled Exhibition Games did not work get a team for the 2012 Season (Pueblo, Abilene, Carlsbad, and Clovis). And this will probably eliminate Exhibition games for the 2012 season. The Southern Division has all returning teams with Las Cruces, White Sands, Roswell and Alpine Texas

The Pecos League for the 2nd year in a row will abandon efforts to have a team in Del Rio Texas. This time it might be for good. The Pecos League is now expanding North and Del Rio is well out of the footprint of travel. In 2010 Del Rio was one of the original eight Pecos League Teams but Babe Ruth Baseball and the Mayor stopped the Pecos League from occupying Roosevelt Park. Roosevelt Park is used by Babe Ruth Baseball and is the only full size baseball park in Del Rio. In 2011 the Pecos League played two very successful games in Del Rio at Roosevelt Park. One game was an exhibition game between Houston Apollos and Alpine Cowboys and a regular season game between the Alpine Cowboys and Carlsbad Bats. Both games were deemed extremely successful. Having a team in Del Rio would have extended the Pecos League into Texas and been a natural rival for the Alpine Cowboys.
Eddie Larkan was in charge of coordination of both games and did a fabulous job. Mr Larkan was the leader of Border Baseball which was a group that attempted to bring the Pecos League to Del Rio. The City of Del Rio did not take neccessary steps to support Mr Larkan or the Pecos League in time for the 2012 season to have a team.
- The brick center field wall is currently 319 feet from home plate, it has to be a minimum of 385 feet to have a professional team occupy Roosevelt Park. Moving this wall would have also require adjustment of lighting and possibly removal of trees.
- The Pecos League currently has 6 teams in New Mexico and Colorado which would have meant extremely long home stands and road stands for Del Rio and all teams would have had to had combination home stands with Alpine and Del Rio which would have been a negative on Alpine"s home attendence.
Statement from Mr Larkan shown below "It is time I give up my effort to bring professional baseball to Del Rio. Obstacles with scheduling and some needed stadium improvements have not progressed significantly and I realize you have to finalize schedules with teams committed to play in 2012.
Thank you for your attempts to locate a team in Del Rio and for providing the teams for two great baseball games here this summer. I wish you continued success as the Pecos League expands to other cities; I regret that Del Rio will not be one of them."

The Pecos League did not get a posi
The Pecos League did not get a positive response from the City of Carlsbad for placing a team in Carlsbad in the 2012 season. There is not a facility available right now for the Bats to play in. Caveman Corral will not suite the needs for a professional team. Lea Street Park would need major renovations. Currently neither have the ability to sell alcohol. The Pecos League will play between 4-6 games in 2012 in Artesia which is easily close enough for Baseball Fans in Carlsbad to drive to game.
The facility in Artesia is 2nd to none in Southeast New Mexico. The Pecos League office has received numerous inquires about why there is not a full time team in Carlsbad. We do not control the facilities, it is up to the City of Carlsbad. The Pecos League has successfully worked with 8 other cities in New Mexico and Colorado but we must have support for the local city government. In Carlsbad we do not have the support so we will not risk putting a team there.

- 8/10/2010 When the Pecos League was formed in 2010 Carlsbad was in the center of the league geographically, close to Alpine and within striking distance to all New Mexico Cities. Carlsbad was granted a team to play in the Caveman Corral. Carlsbad is often dubbed Baseball Capital of New Mexico.
- 1/5/2011 The original Pecos League Schedule had both Carlsbad and Clovis on it. Original talks went well with Jamie Bardoza from Carlsbad ISD. However in January the Carlsbad ISD Officials decided that they did not want a pro team in their town.
- 2/1/2011 The Pecos League was left with 5 teams and had a set of CB (Coastal Baseball Uniforms), the CB quickly turned into the Carlsbad Bats as a 100% travel team
- 6/29/2011 Father"s Day weekend Alpine had a issue come up with Kokernot Field and the Pecos League needed to move the series somewhere. Jamie Bardoza said he would allow the Pecos League to play at his high school field.
- 6/30/2011 The Pecos League played 3 games in Carlsbad and had the worst attendence in the history of the league. The final game on Monday Night had around 70 people.
- 8/2/2011 The Mayor of Carlsbad and others insisted that support would be ok in Carlsbad if a team was brought in.
- 8/5/2011 The Mayor informed the Pecos League that alcohol would not be possible
- 9/16/2011 The Pecos League decided it has very limited support in Carlsbad and will attempt to place a team in Pecos Texas.
- The Pecos League will consider putting a team in the so called "Baseball Capital of New Mexico" in future when it is believed the team will be fully supported.
- If there is an outright travel team again the Pecos League will consider naming the team the Carlsbad Bats.

It appears to Clovis Pioneers will
It appears to Clovis Pioneers will not be playing in the Pecos League in 2012. The Pecos League has failed on three attempts to put a team in Mike Harris Park in Clovis New Mexico. Mike Harris Park is a city owned facility that would allow the Pioneers to sell beer at games. The Pecos League played an exhibition game in 2011 in hopes of generating interest for a team in 2012. The game went ok and the local interest was strong in having a team. Mike Harris Park is unavailable the month of June due to a youth league that uses the field. Bell Park is the high school owned baseball facility in Clovis. It is by far a better surface and much better facility than Mike Harris Park. Bell Park sits idle during the entire summer. The Pecos League"s logical proposal would be for the Youth Teams to play at Bell Park on the nights when the Pioneers had home games. Mike Harris Park would have to be the primary field for the Clovis Pioneers of the Pecos League. "This is the number one city we wanted to goto. The support was great in 2011 when we announced we were coming town. I still believe if we would have played in Clovis it would have had huge support and been a great event for the community and the base. At this point we have offers to goto 13 cities in Southern Colorado, New Mexico and West Texas and we need to move on." says Pecos League Commisioner Andrew Dunn The Pecos League attempted to get the Youth League to switch to Bell Park which is a much better school district owned facility. The Pecos League was working in conjunction with Bill Bizzell, Joe Thomas and Gayla Brumfield.

Pecos League to host Spring League
Pecos League to host Spring League March 5-28 in Houston Texas. The Pecos League of Professional Baseball Clubs will host a developmental Spring League in Houston Texas. The Pecos League will be at either 6 or 8 teams in the regular season of 2012 and will be seeking players. "In the 2011 season we signed around 45 players from various winter leagues and so we decided to have our own winter league with players specifically wanting to come to our Winter League." says Andrew Dunn of the Pecos League. There will be between 4-6 teams, we have one team made up entirely of players from New York State put together by New York Federals owner Jay Acton. we have proposals from teams in Australia and Canada to send entire teams as well. Currently Pecos League Managers Chris Paterson and Keith Essary will be invited to coach at these camps. The Camps are a win-win for players who can improve their skills while attempting to get picked up by professional teams. The Pecos League is the lowest cost developmental league in the US.

White Sands- the Pupfish split series down the middle with Ruidoso and Roswell but have won 4 in a row with the Vaqueros with more games coming. The Pupfish have turned over their roster and are staying on top of the standings.
Ruidoso-The Osos split an 8 game series with the Vaqueros and split a 4 game tilt with White Sands. They have struggled head to head against Roswell. This week will be a test with games at Las Cruces and hosting Alpine the next..
Las Cruces-10 of their last 12 and losing their two top pitchers Sean Keeler and Luis Carreras. The Vaqueros have really tapered off at the plate as well...Two weeks ago the Vaqueros were in first place with the leagues best offense, now they are in third place looking for ways to score runs. The Vaqueros have struggled at the gate all year with reonvations to their ballpark coming in the fall.

Pecos League to hold midseason tryo
Pecos League to hold midseason tryout camp. Alamogordo 10 AM Mountain Time at the Griggs Park Complex 3000 North Florida. This will give players an opportunity to tryout for managers in the Pecos League. At least 3 managers have confirmed attendence at the tryout camp. "I am receiving around 125 calls per day from players. I am telling players goto the tryout camp." says Ryan Powell Carlsbad Manager. Players interested in playing in the league are invited to attend the tryout camp. Players are encouraged to signup online for the tryout camp. This camp is geared for players who have just graduated college and did not get selected in the MLB Draft. The Pecos League has already had 12 players promoted to higher leagues and is in the process of losing more. This tryout camp will serve as a chance for teams to reload their players as many teams did with the May 29th tryout camp. The Pecos League had originally a
The Pecos League had originally agreed to play games vs the New Mexico College League on set off days during the season. The games were designed to allow the College teams to play against Pro Players and to let the Pro Teams work some guys into the games. With the exception of the Las Cruces Aggies none of the college teams showed up for a single game this year. The West Texas Outlaws were the latest in a list of no shows on Monday as they no showed the Roswell Invaders in what was supposed to be a 5:05 Start. The Las Cruces Vaqueros never heard from the Bisbee Copperkings. The New Mexico College Teams had request games vs Roswell, Ruidoso and Alamogordo. They no showed all 6 of their dates and only appeared in Las Cruces. "I believe these teams didn"t realize how much it would cost to travel and didn"t have enough pitching to play against Pro Caliber teams. Had they played against these pro teams there would have had to make sacrifices in their regular summer schedules by holding back arms." The Pecos League will only consider scheduling serious college summer teams in the future.

Things are tightening up in the Pecos League on Wednesday Night 4 games separate the first place team and the fourth place team. Roswell beat White Sands to move to 13-11, White Sands is now 17-7. Las Cruces beat Ruidoso to put both teams at 16-8. Alpine is ready to climb back into the race with 7 games in a row against Carlsbad. All six teams in the Pecos League are in search of higher quality arms. Seven day a week baseball and promotion of existing players to higher level leagues is the key issue to pitching shortage. The league will also be making a decision on the DH which may go into effect at the midway point of the season.

Carlsbad has 0 zero attendence as a travel team and thus 0 wins. They will host a series June 19 and June 20 and attempt to get their first wins of the season.
Alamogordo-White Sands is averaging close to 325 fans per game they are in first place Ruidoso played the season knowing it would be a year of establishment playing day games with no alcohol. They are averaging over 120 on weekend games... "Alamogordo is a great atmosphere to watch a game, Griggs Park really came together well...I would have never imagined a pro team much less a team of this caliber in Alamogordo, I will do anything I need to do to keep the team here..." says Eric Rogers. Eric also claims to be the teams number one fan.
Roswell is averaging close to 320 fans per game they are in 4th place. "I never believed they would actually put a team here and I am very pleased with the league, they will have some bumps in the road but the Invaders are here to stay" says Mitchell Johnson. The Invaders are making their money selling merchandise they have sold 10 times the amount of merchandise of any other team combined, with their super cool R Alien hats and lime green look, casual fans have raided the teams store online.
Alpine does not release their attendence numbers but they have the highest travel expenses and host hotels in the league, however they are the oldest most established team in the league. "Being a better league is helping us, having all home games in May and being on the road in June did not help us. We compete for fans with high school playoffs" says coach Ryan Stevens.
Las Cruces has been the biggest disapointment in the league. The Vaqueros have an excellent ball club with great hitting, pitching and defense and a local coaching staff. The Vaqueros in their 2nd year in a much better league than the continental League they joined in 2010. Fans have just not came out, they are averaging around 135 per game which is a huge disapointment considering Las Cruces has double the population of every other city in the Pecos League. The team expects to see increased attendence in July. "I think the grandstands scared people but we are 1/3 of the way through the season and fans aren"t coming to the games. I realize we are in our 2nd year and the new has worn off but we should have more than 135 per game...There are many people that warned me Las Cruces doesn"t support things well when we came here...The team will play here in 2012 and beyond regardless of attendence. Attendence and sponsorship will determine the budget we have to work with. Las Cruces fits perfectly in the Pecos League and should be a leader on and off the field every year...The players have interacted with the community. I am shocked to see Alamogordo and Roswell outdraw Las Cruces 3 to 1." says owner Andrew Dunn
Ruidoso GM Billy Page says "We are just trying to break even and establish baseball and hope to be alive in 2012 with lights. The Baseball Part is the easy part. Grumblings have begun about what the exact future of the Pecos League will be for 2012 season. The League will be back and the Las Cruces, Roswell, White Sands, Alpine teams will function as is. Ruidoso will attempt to get lights in the off season.
- The leagues number one priority is to get a team in the baseball capital of New Mexico. Carlsbad is passioniate about their baseball and it will be interesting to see how they attend the exhibiton game. Carlsbad will have to move into a permanent ball park in Carlsbad other than the Caveman Corral.
- Del Rio Texas has a very strong local group, but stadium issues and availablity are the only thing slowing them down from having a team in 2012. They had a great turnout in the exhibition game hosted by Eddie Larkin.
- Odessa Texas has no lights but sits in the center of what would be an Eastern Division of Carlsbad, Alpine, Del Rio.
- Clovis New Mexico will hold an exhibiton game on July 28th to gage interest and is the front runner in New Mexico to get a team.
- Pueblo Colorado would be the leagues biggest city and has great facilities and support for a team, distance is going to be issue linking to the teams in SE New Mexico.
- Bisbee Arizona-was one of the Original Pecos League cities, with questions about finances to move the team out of NBC Ball into Pro Ball looming it appears to be a long shot to have a team in Bisbee. Only Alpine has a finer more historic ball park in the Pecos League.
- silver City NM- would be ideal if Bisbee joined but unlikely to support a team.
- The league has also received outside requests from Las Vegas, NM, Farmington, NM, Rio Rancho, NM and Albuquerque, NM
The Pecos League hopes to be at 8 teams without a travel team for the 2012 season.

Pro Baseball landed in Del Rio on June 13th as the Alpine Cowboys beat the Houston Apollos 7-4 in front of a capacity crowd estimated at 731 at Roosevelt Park.. The game was tied 3-3 in the 6th inning when Alpine broke the game open with an Austin Newall double, Nathan Skeen single and the big blow was Mike Marion home run. Mike"s homer easily cleared the 320 foot fence in center field. This was the deadest air these players have seen despite the short fences the ball did not travel at 800 foot elevation like the thin air of New Mexico. Eric Williams Jr. won the dancing competition after the game, he turned a complete flip and did the helicopter, Alpine had no answers for this... Brian Fowler served as the coach of the Houston Apollos which was a team of 2 Houston Apollos, 11 Roswell Invaders and 5 Carlsbad Bats. Each team threw one pitcher per inning and the game moved at a great pace. Eddie Larkan organized the game and set a great stage for the residents of Del Rio of what the Pecos League could be like in 2012... Stadium Issues and Political Issues stille exist but the future looks bright in Del Rio.

The Pecos League of Professional Baseball Clubs will finally play in Clovis New Mexico. Thursday July 28th the Pecos League will hold a game between Alpine Cowboys and Carlsbad Bats at Mike Harris Field, the city owned park in Clovis. This game is in hopes of sparking of team in Clovis New Mexico. Game time will be 7:00 PM.. Tickets will be $6, this game will serve as an interest for the fans of Clovis and a chance for the people of Clovis to support bringing the Clovis Pioneers to life for the 2012 season. The Pecos League is seeking game sponsors to assist with the costs of bringing this game to Clovis.

The Inaugural Pecos League Tryout was a successful venture. 15 players were invited to join teams. Players came from as far away as Rhode Island and as close as Silver City.
The 0-12 Carlsbad Bats took full advantage of quality available players that traveled to New Mexico for the tryout. They signed Christian Lopez, Bryant Veiga, Barry Rooks, Andy White, Brian Johnson, Aiden Villa and Jeff Forgerson.
The Las Cruces Vaqueros re-signed Davis Page and Clint Stoud. Both players had been earlier signed with Las Cruces and released from the Frontier League.
The Roswell Invaders signed Jeff Allen a switching hitter catcher and Dave Keine a pitcher who pitched the first week of the season with Las Cruces.
The White Sands Pupfish signed (carlsbad Native) Jermanine Barksdale and James LePresi.

The Bats have played the two established teams Las Cruces and Alpine and haven"t come close to winning a game, they have been in most of the games
Roswell won the only road game of the year beating Alpine 7-0. They lost 2 at Ruidoso and lost 3 at Alpine, they can"t wait to get back to Roswell next week to host Cruces. "It"s brutual on the road. Someone needs to check the umps" says manager Chris Paterson

Independent Baseball Storms New Mexico-Players from 20 states and 3 countries arrived in New Mexico Sunday for Spring Training in Las Cruces, Alamogordo, Ruidoso and Roswell. Around 150 players arrived by plane, train and bus....The First day of Spring Training is May 2nd for Las Cruces, Roswell, Alpine and Ruidoso. New York States League takes contro
New York States League takes control of Carlsbad Bats. Jay Acton of the New York States League and Andrew Dunn of the Pecos League have annouced that the New York State League will handle 100% of the on field player procurement and roster for the Carlsbad Bats.
The Bats will have Spring Training in Houston Texas May 5-8 and report to Alpine May 10th for their season opener. The Bats will not reside or play games in Carlsbad New Mexico in the 2011 season. They will serve as a travel team. The Pecos League will not be involved in finances or operations of the team in any manner.
The Bats will announce coaching staff on April 2, 2011.
About the Pecos League- The Pecos League is an independent Professional Baseball League with 2011 teams in New Mexico and West Texas.
About the New York State League- Today"s NYSL was founded in 2006 and is a lower level independent baseball league. Generally speaking, its teams consist of players whose college eligibility is exhausted or of players who have been released from other pro teams and who are looking to work their way back up the pro baseball ladder. The NYSL is only for the hardcore baseball player. We play doubleheaders every day that begin at 8am.
"This is an ideal relationship, Jay Acton is running a another travel team in the Can-Am League and has high quality players who would love to spend their summer playing in New Mexico. This takes the burden of running of a travel team off of the hands of the Pecos League. Jay"s players come prepared with proper attitudes and would love the opportunity to play in our league. Motel 6 will be the official hotel of the Pecos League. The Telshor location will serve as official hotel for the Las Cruces Vaqueros. The Alamogordo location will serve as the host hotel for the White Sands Pupfish. The Roswell location will serve as the official hotel for the Invaders. There is not a Motel 6 in Alpine.

With 3 new teams in 2011 the Pecos League Teams are seeking players. 35% of roster spots in 2011 season are expected to be from players are tryout camps. All Tryout Camps cost $50 and position players run 60 yard dash, take infield and outfield. Hitters take batting practice and test bat speed. All 4 of the Pecos League New Mexico Ballparks are facing major seating changes as the season begins to approach.
- The Las Cruces Vaqueros have the biggest change with their 1960"s racetrack grandstand being no longer structural sound for spectators, the Vaqueros and the three Las Cruces High Schools will be forced to have limited home plate seating. The City of Las Cruces is bringing in seating along the right field and left field lines
- The White Sands Pupfish Griggs Ballpark continues to progress nicely. Grass will be planted in the next several weeks and the outfield fence is close to being installed. Griggs got a complete surface facelift.
- The Eastern New Mexico Fairgrounds Ballpark is getting upgraded VIP Seating behind homeplate and the surface area is getting ready for Roswell High Schools games this Spring.
- Whites Mountain Park in Ruidoso currently has a backstop that is 60 feet from homeplate, plans are to move the backstop in and give the spectators a more captive audience.

The Ruidoso Osos have switched home dates with the Alpine Cowboys for Memorial Day Weekend due to huge event planned on Memorial Day. The Alpine Cowboys formally made their request to reduce the number of home games from 44 to 36. Del Rio will host an exhibition game between the Acuna Athleticos and the Alpine Cowboys. Bisbee Arizona will host an exhibiton game between the White Sands Pupfish and the Bisbee Copperkings. Either Abilene or Pueblo will host a July 27-30 series between the Alpine Cowboys and Carlsbad Bats. The Village of Ruidoso appears to be the final puzzle piece for the Pecos League of Professional Baseball Clubs for 2011. Nestled in between Roswell and Alamogordo, Ruidoso is mainly a tourist attraction. However a joint effort between the Chamber of Commerce, Parks and Rec Department and Pecos League will bring Pro Baseball to the Village for 2011. The name of the team will be The Ruidoso Osos. The team was named by Debbie Jo Almager. The Osos take the place of Clovis Pioneers who have spiraled downwards since John Harris left for the Amarillo Sox Head Job. The Pecos League was unable to rework a stadium lease after losing Mike Harris Field..."Another cost saving move without alot of time left" says Andrew Dunn commisioner of Pecos League. Ruidoso saves major mileage and is the most popular destination in the state of New Mexico. Beware of the Osos in the Summer of 2011
