6/1/2013-Smoke from the Tres Lagunas fire drifts over the lights at Rodriguez Field Friday, forcing the postponement of the game between Las Vegas and Santa Fe.

LAS VEGAS, N.M. -- A wildfire in San Miguel County -- of which Las Vegas, N.M. is the county seat -- prompted a somewhat unusual postponement Friday.

The Pecos League baseball game between the Train Robbers and Fuego at Rodriguez Park in Las Vegas was postponed indefinitely, with a makeup date to be decided later.

League commissioner Andrew Dunn said heavy smoke from the Tres Lagunas fire was the main reason for the change, but the fire itself has prompted numerous evacuations near the villages of Pecos and Tres Lagunas, about 25 miles east of Santa Fe and 30 miles west of Las Vegas.

The fire, which was started Thursday by a downed power line, doubled in size Friday and was totally uncontained. That prompted New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez to declare a state of emergency in San Miguel County to free up state funds to fight the fire.

The teams are scheduled to play at Fort Marcy Park Saturday with a 6 p.m. start, and there has been no word on what will happen with Sundays game, again set for Rodriguez Park.
