A superb effort by DJ Carr lifted the Garden City Wind (29-23) to a 7-0 win over the Great Bend Boom on Saturday at Clint Lightner.
Carr held the Great Bend Boom (18-32) scoreless during his nine innings of work. He pitched a shutout, allowing no runs on three hits while striking out five.
The Garden City Wind blew out the Great Bend Boom thanks to 10 hits, including zero extra base hits. The Garden City Wind scored three runs in the seventh on the Garden City Wind scored in the seventh on a two-run single by Ken Olszewski and an RBI single by Carr.
Olszewski racked up two RBIs on three hits for the Garden City Wind.
Toni Hernandez (0-1) took the loss for the Great Bend Boom. He lasted just four innings, walked five, struck out none, and allowed four runs.
