An awesome effort by Jonathon Tasis lifted the Great Bend Boom (17-26) to a 15-9 win over the Garden City Wind (24-21) on Thursday at Clint Lightner.
Tasis blasted two home runs for the Great Bend Boom. Tasis went 2-4 in the game with two RBIs and three runs scored. Tasis homered in the second and third innings.
The two teams combined for 24 runs and 23 hits, including zero extra base hits. Both bullpens were busy with eight pitchers used in the game as the skippers of both squads tried to finish it off.
The Great Bend Boom blew out the Garden City Wind thanks to 14 hits, including zero extra base hits. The Great Bend Boom scored five runs in the fifth on the Great Bend Boom scored in the fifth on a three-run home run by Ian Miller, a solo home run by Nathan Williams, and a sacrifice fly by Darryl Baca.
Mitchell Gonsalvez improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Great Bend Boom. He allowed one run over three innings. He struck out none, walked none and surrendered one hit.
Scott Torrey (4-1) was the games losing pitcher. He allowed eight runs in four innings, walked three and struck out two.
The Great Bend Boom pounded the Garden City Wind pitching, as six hitters combined for 13 hits, 13 RBIs and 15 runs scored.
