A walk-off single from Reagan Rutledge brought home the winning run for the Alpine Cowboys (20-14) in a 13-12 victory over the White Sands Pupfish in 11 innings at Kokernot Field on Wednesday.
Rutledge racked up three RBIs on three hits for the Alpine Cowboys. He singled in the seventh and eleventh innings.
Each team blasted the others pitching, and there were 25 total runs and 32 hits during the game. Relief pitchers got their fill of innings during the game, with the opposing managers using 11 pitchers in total.
Jon Denney put himself in scoring position with two extra-base hits for the Alpine Cowboys. He homered in the second inning and doubled in the sixth inning.
Chris Rogers improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Alpine Cowboys. Rogers struck out none, walked none and gave up no hits.
Rob Rizzitelli (0-4) took the loss for the White Sands Pupfish (13-24). He lasted just 2 1/3 innings, walked two, struck out two, and allowed two runs.
The Alpine Cowboys Phildrick Llewellyn, Denney, Eric Ferguson and Rutledge combined for 11 hits and six RBIs.
