A seven-run explosion in the second inning carried the Garden City Wind (6-8) to a 12-6 win over the Trinidad Triggers (11-5) at Clint Lightner on Thursday.
The Garden City Wind scored in the second on an RBI single by Joey Cecere, an RBI single by Matt Consigli, a sacrifice fly by Eli Roundtree, a two-run single by Manny Colon, an RBI single by Marty Anderson, and an RBI single by Nick Francis.
Colon racked up three RBIs on three hits for the Garden City Wind.
Brian Frazier reached base four times. He doubled in the eighth inning.
Scott Torrey improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Garden City Wind. He allowed three runs over four innings. Torrey struck out two, walked one and gave up six hits.
Joe Robinson (1-1) took the loss for the Trinidad Triggers. He allowed nine runs in three innings, walked two and struck out two.
