A great effort by Caleb Bryson led the Trinidad Triggers (16-5) to a 14-4 win in eight innings over the Garden City Wind (7-16) on Thursday at Central Park.
Bryson blasted two home runs for the Trinidad Triggers. Bryson went 2-3 in the game with four RBIs and two runs scored. Bryson homered in the third and sixth innings.
The offense exploded for the the Trinidad Triggers in the eighth. The Garden City Wind had no answer as the Trinidad Triggers scored nine runs. The Trinidad Triggers scored in the eighth on an RBI single by Eric Williams, an RBI single by Williams, an RBI single by Emmanuel Paulino, a three-run double by Luc Pomales, a hit by pitch, a two-run double by Williams, and a passed ball.
Rodney Polonia racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Garden City Wind. He homered in the first inning and singled in the fifth inning.
Patrick Jernigan improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Trinidad Triggers. He allowed two runs over 5 2/3 innings. Jernigan struck out four, walked two and gave up six hits.
Matthew McCormick was charged with his third loss of the year. He lasted just seven innings, walked one, struck out seven, and allowed five runs.
