The Garden City Wind (6-15) fell to the Trinidad Triggers (15-4) 5-1 Tuesday evening in the second game of the series.

James Floyd shot a solo home run to right in the fifth, scoring the only run for the Wind in the fifth.

With two doubles and a walk, Brandon Cooksey had a solid night at the plate.

Trevor Sealey continues to be a danger to Garden City, starting the game with a lead-off home run and reaching base three times in five at bats.

Newly aquired Josh Wright entered the game in a difficult third inning for starter Larry Rodriguez. With runners on second and third, Wright intentionally walked Trigger power-hitter Caleb Bryson, hoping for a double play on the next at bat. The Wind did not get what they wanted as the inning ended after four more runs scored, extending Trinidad’s lead 5-0.

Wright grew more comfortable on the mound throughout the game, allowing just one hit and striking out two in the next three innings.

Giving up one hit, Jacob Gonzalez threw three shutout innings in relief.

Richie Anderson (2-0) picked up the win for Trinidad giving up only one run in eight innings pitched.


The Wind get one more shot at the Triggers at home 6:30 on Wednesday evening before the team takes off for a quick two-game series against the Triggers in Trinidad, Colo.
