The White Sands Pupfish (10-6) and the Alpine Cowboys (9-7) both had scoring chances on Thursday, but it was the White Sands Pupfish that were able to capitalize on them as they pulled out an 8-7 win at Griggs Park.
Wesley Wallace put himself in scoring position with two extra-base hits for the White Sands Pupfish. He tripled in the second inning, doubled in the fourth inning, and singled in the first and fifth innings.
Derrick Fox was solid at the plate for the Alpine Cowboys. Fox went 3-6, drove in one and scored two runs. He singled in the first, fifth, and eighth innings.
David Steele Jr. improved to 3-0 on the year by picking up the win for the White Sands Pupfish. He allowed four runs over six innings. Steele Jr. struck out eight, walked one and gave up 10 hits.
Josh Cruse ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his second loss of the year. He allowed eight runs in four innings, walked two and struck out four.
