The Alpine Cowboys (9-6) jumped out to an early lead, but were unable to hold on and lost 8-5 to the White Sands Pupfish (9-6) on Wednesday.
While the Alpine Cowboys led until the fourth inning, the White Sands Pupfish worked their way back and took the lead on an RBI single by Ben Lott.
Lott had a busy day at the plate, collecting two extra-base hits. He doubled in the first and third innings and singled in the fourth inning.
Joe McCarty pitched lights out for the White Sands Pupfish. The Alpine Cowboys managed just four hits off of McCarty, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two during his four innings of work.
Daniel Aldrich racked up two RBIs on one hit for the Alpine Cowboys. He tripled in the first inning.
Ian Drapcho improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the White Sands Pupfish. He struck out one, walked one and surrendered two hits.
Matt Coleman (1-1) was the games losing pitcher. He allowed six runs in five innings, walked none and struck out four.
The White Sands Pupfish were sparked by Brandon Burkes and Lott, who teamed up for five hits and three RBIs.
