For Immediate Release: SUMMER BASEBALL IS BACK IN GRAND JUNCTION
(Grand Junction, CO) - The City of Grand Junction has approved the return of summer baseball in Grand Junction. The Pecos League will be relocating a team to Grand Junction for the upcoming 2026 season.
The 16-team independent baseball league is comprised of rising young players with teams in Arizona, California, Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas. For the 2026 season, the Grand Junction team start their season on the road on May 28 before hosting their first home game on June 4. There will be a total of 18 games played in Grand Junction for the 2026 season.
"We are thrilled to partner with the City of Grand Junction to bring baseball back to the community" said Andrew Dunn, Pecos League Commissioner. "Our brand of baseball is fun and family-focused, we want our players to be part of this town's rich baseball history." Dunn has worked with the City of Grand Junction, the Grand Junction Sports Commission, and the Grand Junction Chamber of Commerce to move a team locally for the 2026 season. "This is a good win for Grand Junction" commented Ben Snyder, Executive Director of the Grand Junction Sports Commission. "The level of baseball is comparable to past teams and Andrew's willingness to engage the community will go a long way."
To kickstart their presence in Grand Junction, the team is hosting a Name the Team Competition. Fans can go the team's website, https://grandjunction.pecosleague.com, to submit a team name. The competition will run through Sunday, February 15 and the team name will be announced in March 16. The winner of the competition will receive season tickets, a team jersey, and other prizes from the team.
Tickets will go on sale for the inaugural season on March 16 and the full schedule can be found on the team's website.
