Fans were treated to a high-scoring affair Tuesday as the Santa Fe Fuego (44-22) outscored the Taos Blizzard (22-40) 16-9.
The two teams combined for 29 hits in the game.
Ten runs in the opening three innings allowed the Santa Fe Fuego to easily put away the Taos Blizzard. A sacrifice fly by Craig Massey and an RBI single by Charles Johnson in the first inning and a fielders choice, an RBI single by Chevas Numata, and a home run by Brice Cutspec during the second inning fueled the Santa Fe Fuegos offense early.
Numata racked up four RBIs on four hits for the Santa Fe Fuego.
Jeremiah Steinert recorded his eighth win of the year for the Santa Fe Fuego. He allowed three runs over 4 2/3 innings. He struck out one, walked two and surrendered six hits.
Joe Katin was charged with his fifth loss of the year. He allowed 10 runs in three innings, walked five and struck out two.
