A walk-off home run from Yermin Mercedes brought home the winning run for the White Sands Pupfish (25-28) in a 9-8 victory over the Roswell Invaders (32-24) on Friday.
Mercedes blasted two home runs for the White Sands Pupfish. Mercedes went 3-5 in the game with five RBIs and two runs scored. Mercedes homered in the eighth and ninth innings.
Both squads had things going at the plate, tallying 17 runs and 21 hits, including zero extra base hits.
Joe McCarty recorded his fourth win of the year for the White Sands Pupfish. He allowed four runs over five innings. McCarty struck out three, walked none and gave up eight hits.
Chris Dunn couldnt get it done on the rubber for the Roswell Invaders, taking a loss. He lasted just zero innings, walked none, struck out none, and allowed two runs.
