A superb effort by Kevin McGovern led the Trinidad Triggers (12-11) to a 7-1 win over the Santa Fe Fuego on Monday at Central Park.
McGovern struck out 11 hitters en route to the the Trinidad Triggers win. McGovern allowed no earned runs, four hits and one walk over 7 2/3 innings.
The biggest inning for the Trinidad Triggers was the third. In the inning the Trinidad Triggers scored five runs. The Trinidad Triggers scored in the third on an RBI double by Blake May, a two-run double by Jake Summers, and a two-run home run by Nicholas Bunce.
Bunce racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Trinidad Triggers.
Charlie McCready was effective even in defeat, mowing down five the Trinidad Triggers batters and allowing two runs.
Austin Carden was charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just 2 1/3 innings, walked two, struck out two, and allowed five runs.
