6/7/2022-The San Rafael Pacifics continued their winning ways once again beating the Santa Rosa Scuba Divers 7-6 for the third time at Albert Park in the span of a week. The Pacifcs now move to 8-1 on the season with their sixth straight win.

The Pacifics scored their first run of the night without recording a hit in the bottom of the first. After getting on base by a walk, left fielder Jalil Marinez ended up scoring on a fielding error by Santa Rosa for an early 1-0 lead.

In the very next inning, John Bicos kicked off what would be a big night at the plate. Bicos, who came in hitting .341 and leading the team in home runs with three, added another home run to his stat sheet in the second inning on a no-doubter to left. He also picked up another RBI in the fourth on a base hit to left field. On the night, Bicos finished 2-4 with a home run, two RBIs, and two runs scored.

"Im just looking for good pitches to hit," said Bicos after the game. "Ive gotten them so far and luckily Ive been able to do something with them."

On the mound tonight for San Rafael was Jayson Summers, who has been the ace so far for the Pacifics early in the season. Summers, who has had some command issues on the season, pounded the strike zone early and established himself on the mound. Through six innings, Summers struck out six while walking two batters and only giving up one run. Summers now has his second win on the season and through 17 innings pitched this year boasts an impressive Pecos league ERA of 2.64.

Summers, a two-way player in college, once again produced at the plate as he knocked in a run in the third with a solid single. He now has a .444 batting average with four RBIs on the season, providing a consistency for the Pacifics both in the box and on the mound.

"I was still a two-way player just in case," said Summers, "but pitching has always really been my thing so I just stuck with that and I just hit whenever I can."

However, it was not all smooth sailing for the Pacifics. San Rafael was up 7-3 in the top of ninth in what ended up being a snow ball inning. After walking the bases loaded, San Rafael ended up walking in three runs which cut the lead to only one run with two outs. On a 3-2 count with the game on the line, relief pitcher Christian Johnson threw a fastball that was swung on and missed giving the Pacifics the win.

The Pacifics once again found themselves hitting the ball well on Tuesday night. They scored seven runs on 12 hits. Out of their nine games on the season, the Pacifics have had double digit hits in seven of them, proving that they are a team that have hitters up and down the line-up.

"We always tell the guys to just make good contact with the ball," said player-manager Kyle Ulandy. "Good things happen when you make good contact."

Along with Bicos, first baseman Beau Dormin ended up scoring twice along with his two doubles. Shortstop Corey Davis Jr. also added two hits on the night and an RBI. He is now hitting .477, which is the highest batting average on the team.

The Pacifics next will face off against the Martinez Sturgeon on the road Thursday. They will then come home for two games, once again against the Sturgeon in a Pecos league-styled series. The Sturgeon come in with a 1-7 record, including three losses against the Pacifics. San Rafael will look to keep their winning streak alive on Thursday.
