June 14 2019 The Alpine Cowboys defeated the White Sands Pupfish 17-14 in a high-scoring game at Griggs Park. Alpine built a 23-hit attack and overcame a 14-run performance by White Sands to secure the win.
Alpine trailed 7-6 after five innings before scoring five runs in the sixth to pull even. The Cowboys added three runs in the eighth and three more in the 10th while holding White Sands scoreless in the eighth and 10th. White Sands scored four times in the sixth and twice in the ninth but could not regain the lead.
Cullen Franz led Alpine with five hits five runs and two RBI.
Armando Valentin went 4-for-6 with two RBI while
Chris York collected three hits two runs two walks and one RBI.
Lance Myers scored three runs and drew three walks. For White Sands Ryan Sugimoto had four hits and three RBI and
Dorian Lewis added two hits and three RBI.
Jacob Pool hit a home run for the Pupfish.
Andrew Click earned the win for Alpine with two scoreless innings allowing one hit while striking out three and walking one.
Tanner Dickerson took the loss after allowing six runs on 11 hits in five innings with two walks and two strikeouts. Alpine used five pitchers in the victory while White Sands used five pitchers.
