June 9 2019 The High Desert Yardbirds overcame an early deficit to defeat the Bakersfield Train Robbers 7-5. High Desert scored five runs in the third inning and added another in the fourth to take a 6-3 lead before both teams scored once in the eighth. The Yardbirds finished with five hits, while Bakersfield collected eight.
High Desert’s Daniel Reddy reached base four times with a hit and three walks and drove in a run.
Hector Morales went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI, while
Slayton Vaughan added a hit and an RBI. Bakersfield’s N. Etheridge went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs. T. Davis tripled, scored once and drove in a run, and
Deandre Smith and
Reinaldo Valdez also contributed RBI.
Colton Draney earned the win for High Desert after allowing three runs on five hits over six innings while striking out eight and walking four.
Joey Macaluso worked one inning and allowed two runs, and
Evan Bell earned the save with two scoreless innings, no hits and three strikeouts. Bakersfield starter
Emmanuel Velasquez took the loss after surrendering five runs in 2.1 innings.
