June 28 2018 The Alpine Cowboys defeated the White Sands Pupfish 24-3 at Kokernot Field, scoring 24 runs on 25 hits without committing an error. White Sands collected eight hits and made five errors in the game.
White Sands scored three times in the first inning, but Alpine answered with six runs in the second. The Cowboys added one run in the third and two in the fourth before breaking the game open with a 10-run fifth inning and five more runs in the sixth.
Grant Myers went 3-for-4 with three runs and five RBI for Alpine, while Lance Myers went 3-for-3 with three runs, five RBI and a home run. Tommy Ziegen had three hits and three RBI, Caleb Davidson added four hits and three runs, and Seth Douglas contributed three hits and two RBI. Chace Sarchet also homered, and Alpines 25-hit attack included three home runs.
Douglas earned the win after allowing three hits and no runs in four innings with four strikeouts and one walk. Cam Carney worked three innings for Alpine, allowing five hits and three runs while striking out three. White Sands starter Harry Ferguson took the loss after two innings, and Adam Rigney allowed 19 hits and 18 runs in four innings.
