July 7 2018 The Monterey Amberjacks defeated the California City Whiptails 12-7 after building an early lead and adding five runs across the final two scoring innings. Monterey outhit California City 9-7 and overcame a one-run deficit after the first inning by scoring three runs in the second and four in the third. The Amberjacks added four runs in the fifth and one in the sixth to secure the victory.
Thomas Prospero led Monterey with a home run, two runs scored and five RBIs.
James Prockish went 2-for-4 with four RBIs and two runs, while
Ian Jones collected two hits and drove in two runs.
Ethan Skowronski reached base five times with four walks, scored three runs and drove in one. California City received home runs from
Nick Snyder and Eli Roundtree; Snyder finished with one hit, one run and three RBIs, while Roundtree scored twice and drove in one.
Ian Jones earned the win after allowing seven runs six earned on seven hits in six innings, with five strikeouts and three walks.
