June 20 2018 The Bakersfield Train Robbers rallied for a 9-7 victory over the Monterey Amberjacks, overcoming a four-run Monterey seventh inning to finish with 17 hits. Bakersfield committed three errors but erased a 7-3 deficit with three runs in the bottom of the seventh and three more in the eighth. Monterey finished with 11 hits and one error.
Blane Swift led Bakersfield with four hits, three runs and two RBI.
Tobias Moreno and
Brett Balkan each added three hits, with two RBI for Moreno and one for Balkan.
Sonny Cortez had two hits, two walks and two RBI, while
Peter Yorgen contributed two hits and two RBI. Bakersfield collected seven doubles, including two each by Swift and Balkan.
Monterey received three hits from
Cutter Mcdowell and
Ronald Jackson. McDowell also scored twice and hit four doubles, while Jackson drove in two runs.
Dynas Doud added two RBI, and Monterey scored one run in each of the second, third and fourth innings before breaking through with four in the seventh.
Jonathan Fleckenstein earned the win after allowing one hit in 1.1 scoreless innings with one strikeout.
Rob Lain started for Bakersfield and worked 6.2 innings, allowing seven runs, four earned, on nine hits while striking out three.
Alejandro Rodriguez held Bakersfield to one earned run over five innings, but
Thomas Prospero took the loss after allowing three runs in one inning.
