June 14 2018 The California City Whiptails rallied from a four-run deficit to defeat the High Desert Yardbirds 9-7. California City opened with two runs in the first inning and added another in the second to take a 3-1 lead before High Desert answered with two runs in the third and four in the fourth. The Yardbirds led 7-3 after four innings.
California City pulled even with three runs in the seventh and took control with three more in the eighth.
Jacob Wohler hit a home run and drove in two runs, while
Johnny Abbaduscky went 2-for-4 with two RBI.
Nick Snyder added a double and two RBI, and
Tino Mention collected two hits. California City finished with nine hits and scored six runs over the final three innings.
Ronnie Grant led High Desert with two hits two runs and an RBI.
Aaron Cook also had two hits and drove in two runs, while
Jason Johnson-Wilcoxson contributed a hit RBI and two runs scored. High Desert recorded six hits and committed four errors in the loss.
Kyle Chavez held California City to four hits and three runs over six innings while striking out seven.
Tyus Adkins earned the win with 1.1 scoreless innings and a strikeout. California City starter
Ty Rowe allowed five hits and seven runs in 4.1 innings, with four runs charged as earned.
Ron Fox was charged with the loss after allowing three runs on three hits without recording an out.
