6/4/2011-Ruidoso Osos play at elevation 6930 more than 2000 feet higher than Denver's Coors Field. This thin air have lead the Osos to a huge start in the Pecos League winning 5 of their first 6 home games and averaging 16 runs at home while only averaging 3 runs per game on the road at lower altitudes.

The dimensions of the field are standard for a professional baseball field 335 down lines 395 to center. But because the field is at such high altitude the ball soars. "I play two steps in front of track." says left fielder Anthony Phillips.

When it was announced Ruidoso was the final team in the Pecos League for the inaugural 2011 season alot of people were excited. Ruidoso was the only city in New Mexico that outsiders actually know due to its high tourist population. It was dubbed as the Highest Altitude baseball in North America. The Altitude has only been the beginning of the offensive surge delivered by the Ruidoso Osos at their home park this season. Today the Osos split with the Alpine Cowboys in what was their first home loss of the season. They were 5-0 entering today at home. They were averaging 16 runs a game at home...With the home and home staggered schedules with Roswell and White Sands many starting pitchers have begged their managers not to start in Ruidoso. "It isn't just the altitude, it is all day games, rock hard infield and mountain cross winds that gust up to 35 mph" says Andrew Dunn Pecos League Commisioner. With rotating home games between White Sands/Ruidoso and Roswell/Ruidoso players are begging their managers not to start the Ruidoso game. One start in Ruidoso can inflate a pitchers ERA for the entire season. "I have had several pitchers beg not to have to start there" says manager Keith Essary of the White Sands Pupfish, The Pupfish got swept in Ruidoso, but swept the Osos in Alamogorodo.
