July 21 2017 The High Desert Yardbirds defeated the Monterey Amberjacks 6-3 at Adelanto Stadium, scoring in each of the first four innings to build an early lead. High Desert totaled nine hits while Monterey collected eight, and the Yardbirds overcame five errors in the field to secure the win.
High Desert scored twice in the first inning, added a run in the second, two in the third and another in the fourth. Monterey scored once in the second before making a late push with two runs in the eighth, but the Yardbirds held on for the victory.
Dominic Zaher led the Yardbirds with two hits, including two doubles, two runs, one RBI and a walk.
Giovanni Prado also went 2-for-4 with a double, a run and an RBI, while
Shane Brown and
Shane Sharkey each contributed an RBI.
Ronnie Grant scored once and stole a base, and Sharkey also stole a base.
Jonathan Fleckenstein earned the win after allowing four hits and no runs with two strikeouts in three innings.
Zach Williams recorded the save with one hit allowed and three strikeouts in one inning. Monterey starter
