July 6 2011 The Ruidoso Osos outlasted the Las Cruces Vaqueros 12-11 in a high-scoring game. Ruidoso collected 11 hits and overcame 13 hits by Las Cruces while committing one error compared with three for the Vaqueros.
Ruidoso scored twice in the first inning and five times in the second to take an early 7-2 lead. Las Cruces answered with five runs in the third and added single runs in the fourth and sixth to move ahead 9-8. The Osos regained control with a four-run seventh inning and held off late Vaqueros runs in the eighth and ninth.
Sean Proni went 3-for-4 with a triple and five RBI while
Chris Juarez had two hits two RBI and three walks.
Sam DiMatteo added a home run and an RBI.
Las Cruces received home runs from
Bo Bell and
Clint Stroud with Stroud driving in three runs and Bell recording two RBI. Ruidoso's
Josue Iniguez earned the win after a scoreless inning while
Mike Devito recorded the save despite allowing two runs in 1 2/3 innings.
Thomas Romero took the loss for Las Cruces after allowing five runs on five hits in five innings with seven walks and three strikeouts.
