July 5 2011 The Las Cruces Vaqueros defeated the White Sands Pupfish 12-4 behind a 17-hit attack at Griggs Park. Las Cruces scored four runs in the first inning and added runs in the second fourth fifth sixth and ninth, while White Sands scored three times in the fourth and once in the eighth. The Vaqueros led 6-3 after four innings and pulled away with four runs in the fifth.
Clint Stroud led Las Cruces with three hits including a home run and three RBI while also scoring three runs.
Rob Herrmann went 4-for-6 with three RBI, and
James Lilley collected three hits and three RBI.
Dan Pembrooke added two hits and two RBI, while
Steve Vranau had three hits. Stroud's home run was the only homer listed in the box score.
Gabby Duran earned the win after allowing three runs on 10 hits in 5.1 innings with three walks and 10 strikeouts.
Juan Medina worked 2.2 innings and allowed one run with four strikeouts, and
Raphael Anzola finished with a scoreless inning and two strikeouts.
Brandon Glazebrook took the loss for White Sands after recording two outs and allowing four runs on three hits with four walks.
