Alpine led 2-1 after two innings before breaking the game open with its six-run third. The Cowboys added another run in the seventh, while Las Cruces scored once in the second third and seventh innings.
Tyler Hicks led Alpine with two hits and five RBI, including a double.
David Valesente and
Austin Newell each added two hits, while Valesente drove in a run.
Cody Jones scored three times and contributed an RBI.
Scott Shimek earned the win for Alpine after allowing three runs on nine hits over seven innings with one walk and five strikeouts.
Brian Hobbs closed out the victory with two scoreless innings and three strikeouts.
Thomas Romero took the loss for Las Cruces after surrendering eight runs on eight hits in 2.2 innings.
