May 27 2011 The Roswell Invaders held off the Las Cruces Vaqueros 10-9 in a high-scoring game at Coca Cola Park. Roswell built an 8-4 lead through five innings after scoring twice in the first, three times in the third and three times in the fifth. Las Cruces answered with two runs in the sixth and three in the ninth, but Roswell added a run in each of the eighth and ninth innings to secure the victory.
Las Cruces collected 14 hits, led by Herbert Lara’s three-hit performance, which included two home runs and two runs scored.
Juan F. Martinez also had three hits and two RBI, while
Gerardo Caceres added two hits and two RBI. Roswell had 11 hits, with
Adrian Martinez going 2-for-4 with two RBI,
Matt Palko contributing two RBI and
Joey Friedman and
Josh Grady each collecting two hits.
Reed Brown earned the win for Roswell after pitching one inning and allowing three runs on three hits.
Josh Grady started for the Invaders and worked six innings, giving up six runs on 10 hits while striking out seven. Las Cruces starter
Josh Spicer allowed seven runs, six earned, on six hits in four innings with five strikeouts.
Raphael Anzola took the loss after allowing one run on one hit in one-third of an inning. Las Cruces committed four errors compared with one for Roswell.
