June 13 2016 The Great Bend Boom rallied for two runs in the 10th inning to defeat the Topeka Train Robbers 8-7 at Al Burns Field. The teams were tied 6-6 after nine innings before Topeka scored once in the top of the 10th and Great Bend answered with two runs in the bottom half.
Topeka collected 15 hits, with
Gabriel Acevedo and
Cody Ellis recording three hits apiece.
Ian Horne had two hits and a double, while
Chris Scura drove in two runs and
Tim Vranau added two RBI. The Train Robbers scored three runs in the second inning and added single runs in the third fourth eighth and 10th.
Great Bend had six hits, led by D. Lincoln's three-hit performance and Darryl Baca's two walks and two runs scored.
Kirby Campbell drove in four runs, while Baca and Lincoln each added two RBI. Great Bend scored three times in the third inning and added runs in the fifth seventh and ninth before producing the decisive two-run 10th.
Steven Wisser was credited with the win for Great Bend, while
Tyler Shannon took the loss for Topeka.
Patrick Barnett started for the Boom and allowed five runs on 12 hits over seven innings with four strikeouts. Topeka's
Ty Geary struck out six in three innings, and Shannon finished with three strikeouts in 2.1 innings.
