Its Bill Rogan to manage the Bakersfield Train Robbers for the 2025 season
After managing the Marysville Drakes the past two years, including a trip to the playoffs last season, Bill Rogan has been named the new manager of the Bakersfield Train Robbers. Rogan has previously managed the Tucson Saguaros (2019) and the Santa Fe Fuego (2021/2022). He replaces Relly Mercurio who piloted the Train Robbers for the past four seasons.
"I really loved managing in Marysville and I was bummed out that the team left the city," Rogan said. "But I'm really thankful to land in Bakersfield. I get to go to a city that loves baseball, has enthusiastic fans and a great history. They are renovating historic Sam Lynn Ballpark and it will be returned to its former glory. But the best thing is I'll get to eat cannolis all summer long with legendary official scorer Tim Wheeler!"
Rogan says he expects to have a really good, championship caliber team in 2025.
"I'll be bringing some Marysville guys with me, and, combining them with some of the talented Bakersfield guys, we'll have a team that will contend for a championship as well as making the city of Bakersfield proud."
"I'm really looking forward to putting a team together. We're going to stress pitching and defense. We will play the game the right way. It will also be nice to have Joe Riddle on my side instead of managing against him. He killed us in Marysville and quite frankly scared the bejesus out of me whenever he stepped to the plate," Rogan said. "I also will be living a dream. Ever since I saw the old movie "White Heat" starring James Cagney, I've wanted to rob trains. And now, I'm a Train Robber. I'm pumped!"
The Train Robbers open the 2025 season at Sam Lynn Ballpark on May 22nd against the resurrected Monterey Amberjacks. The team schedule, ticket information and all things Train Robbers can be found at www.bakersfieldtrainrobbers.com.
