June 28 2024 The Alpine Cowboys defeated the Santa Fe Fuego 19-4 at Fort Marcy Park, collecting 16 hits while limiting Santa Fe to 11. Alpine built a 4-1 lead through two innings, added four runs in the fourth and broke the game open with a seven-run sixth inning. The Cowboys finished with two runs in the seventh and one in the eighth, while Santa Fe scored twice in the eighth and twice in the ninth.
Trevor Tripoli went 2-for-4 with four runs, three RBI and two home runs for Alpine.
AJ Folds added two hits, two runs and four RBI, while
Taylor Darden and
James Prockish each had two hits, two runs and two RBI.
Matteo Avallone and
Drew Bayard collected three hits apiece, and Darden and Prockish also homered. Alpines 19 runs included six home runs overall, with Tripoli hitting two and Darden and Prockish adding one each as listed in the box score.
Humberto Vela earned the win after allowing one run on seven hits over seven innings. He walked one and struck out nine.
Jaylen Smith pitched the final two innings, allowing three runs, one earned, on four hits with two walks and three strikeouts.
