July 30 2023 The San Rafael Pacifics defeated the Martinez Sturgeon 16-14 in an 11-inning offensive battle. San Rafael collected 15 hits and overcame an early deficit after Martinez scored six runs in the first inning and added three more in the fourth.
San Rafael took control with a seven-run sixth inning to move ahead 11-9, then added one run in each of the eighth and ninth innings. The Pacifics scored three more in the 11th while Martinez answered with one.
John Bicos drove in six runs for San Rafael, while
Blake Diggle went 3-for-6 with a double four RBI and a home run.
Nick Smith had four hits and two RBI, and
Kevin Johnson hit two home runs and finished with two RBI.
Martinez received five hits and two RBI from
Nick Adgar, who also hit a home run.
Sam Freedman went 4-for-7 with five RBI, while
Luke Johnson and
Dave Kyriacou each had three hits and two RBI; Kyriacou also homered. The Sturgeon finished with 19 hits but left the tying run behind in the 11th inning.
Dan Crossan earned the win for San Rafael after allowing one run on two hits with one walk and one strikeout over two innings.
Nathan Lu started for the Pacifics and allowed nine earned runs on 10 hits in 3.1 innings.
Isaiah Chavez surrendered 10 earned runs in 5.2 innings for Martinez, and
Brady Bibbs took the loss after giving up three runs on three hits in 1.1 innings.
