July 29 2023 The Marysville Drakes defeated the Martinez Sturgeon 13-6 at Bryant Field, using a 14-hit attack to secure the victory. Marysville scored twice in the first inning, added four runs in the third and broke the game open with five runs in the fifth. The Drakes added two more runs in the seventh while holding Martinez scoreless over the final three innings.
Evan Blum led Marysville with two hits and four RBI, while
Alan Alonso went 2-for-5 with three RBI and two runs scored.
Tomas Moreno added two hits and two RBI, and
Drake Ayala reached base four times with three hits, four runs and a walk.
Tyler Carpenter contributed two hits and an RBI, while
Joseph Starick scored twice and drove in one run.
Martinez scored one run in the fourth, three in the fifth and two in the sixth.
Nick Adgar and
Luke Johnson each had two hits for the Sturgeon, and
Dave Kyriacou doubled, scored once and drove in a run.
Eric Whitfield drove in two runs, while
Jon Fargnoli and
Gabriel Rojas each added one RBI.
Earl Johnson earned the win for Marysville after allowing eight hits and six runs, four earned, in 5.2 innings. He walked three and struck out three.
Garret Mos followed with three hitless, scoreless innings, allowing one walk and recording one strikeout. Martinez starter
Gabriel Rojas took the loss after surrendering six runs on six hits and seven walks in 3.2 innings, while
