July 29 2022 The Roswell Invaders defeated the Austin Weirdos 11-1, outhitting Austin 13-8 and taking control with a four-run fourth inning. Roswell added two runs in the sixth, four in the eighth and one in the ninth, while Austin’s lone run came in the fifth inning. Roswell committed two errors and Austin played error-free baseball.
Dillan Smith led Roswell with three hits and three RBIs.
Jonathon Bigley also collected three hits, including a double and a triple, while
Colton Adams had two hits, a double, one RBI and one run.
DeMarcus Kelly scored three runs and added a hit and an RBI, and
Jack Matero reached base four times with four walks while contributing one RBI. Austin’s J. Cardenas had two hits, and
Kyler LeRoux recorded the team’s only RBI.
Sam Russell earned the win after allowing one run on eight hits over seven innings. He walked three and struck out eight, throwing 66 strikes in 99 pitches.
Seth Burris completed the victory with two scoreless innings, allowing no hits while striking out three.
Gabriel Murillo took the loss for Austin, surrendering six earned runs on seven hits in six innings. He issued eight walks and struck out five.
Nick Coffman worked the final three innings and allowed five earned runs on six hits with four walks and one strikeout.
