8/21/2011-It appears to Clovis Pioneers will not be playing in the Pecos League in 2012. The Pecos League has failed on three attempts to put a team in Mike Harris Park in Clovis New Mexico. Mike Harris Park is a city owned facility that would allow the Pioneers to sell beer at games. The Pecos League played an exhibition game in 2011 in hopes of generating interest for a team in 2012. The game went ok and the local interest was strong in having a team. Mike Harris Park is unavailable the month of June due to a youth league that uses the field. Bell Park is the high school owned baseball facility in Clovis. It is by far a better surface and much better facility than Mike Harris Park. Bell Park sits idle during the entire summer. The Pecos League's logical proposal would be for the Youth Teams to play at Bell Park on the nights when the Pioneers had home games. Mike Harris Park would have to be the primary field for the Clovis Pioneers of the Pecos League. "This is the number one city we wanted to goto. The support was great in 2011 when we announced we were coming town. I still believe if we would have played in Clovis it would have had huge support and been a great event for the community and the base. At this point we have offers to goto 13 cities in Southern Colorado, New Mexico and West Texas and we need to move on." says Pecos League Commisioner Andrew Dunn The Pecos League attempted to get the Youth League to switch to Bell Park which is a much better school district owned facility. The Pecos League was working in conjunction with Bill Bizzell, Joe Thomas and Gayla Brumfield.
