The Raton Osos get key pinch-hit in 5-4 victory over the Trinidad Triggers

Derek Sampell was cold coming off the bench, but Sampell warmed up quickly as Sampell stroked a key pinch-hit double in the three to lead the Raton Osos (8-42) to a 5-4 win over the Trinidad Triggers (30-20) on Friday at Gabriele Park.

With the Raton Osos trailing by two in the third inning, Sampell came to the plate and doubled, scoring William Smalls.

The Raton Osos AJ Doyle was perfect at the dish, going 2-2. He tripled in the fourth inning and singled in the fifth inning.

The Trinidad Triggers couldnt get anything going so long as Richard Suniga was on the hill. The Trinidad Triggers managed just one hit off of Suniga, who allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out seven during his three innings of work.

John Sullivan was effective even in defeat, mowing down six the Raton Osos batters and allowing zero runs.

Sampell recorded his first win of the year for the Raton Osos. He allowed one run over 2 2/3 innings. Sampell struck out one, walked none and gave up two hits.

Scott Elitzky (2-1) was the games losing pitcher. He lasted just 3 2/3 innings, walked one, struck out two, and allowed five runs.
