6/2/2013-Roswell Invader outfielder Erick Gaylord is the first Pecos League player to move up to a higher league in the 2013 season.

Gaylord has been sent to the Joliet Slammers of the Frontier League. He was the first of several Roswell players set to be promoted to the higher leagues, and was a key leader in Roswell's 15-5 start to the Pecos League Season.

"Its always exciting," said Invader manager Chris Ebright of the move. "Its extra exciting for Erick. He thanked us, the Roswell coaching staff and people for giving him the chance to prove his stuff and it was great for him. We wish him the best. But just for the Roswell team, just to get our name out there and show that we can get guys moved up. Its all around a good thing."

Of course, Gaylord's upward mobility means he won't be there to spur on the Invaders, but Ebright said that's part of being in independent baseball.

"I told him on the phone when I was talking to these guys, 'Its great for you, good and bad for us. Its good because were playing the right players, bad because weve got to find another one."
