1/15/2017-The Pecos League of Professional Baseball Clubs is proud to announce its third California Team in California City, California. The team will be named the California City Whiptails. The teams colors will be Grey, Navy and Cobalt Blue. The California City Team will play in the Western Division in the 2017 season with the High Desert Yardbirds, Bakersfield Train Robbers and the Monterey Amberjacks.

The Whiptails will play at Balstis Park which recently had state of the art Musco Lights installed. The playing surface will be reconstructed before Spring Training begins in May.

California City is a city in the northern Antelope Valley in Kern County, California, 65 miles (105 km) southwest of Death Valley National Park. California City is 66 miles Southeast of Bakersfield and 62 miles Northwest of Adelanto the two newest Pecos League Teams.

The Whiptails will host Spring Training and the home opener between the High Desert Yardbirds and the California City Whiptails.

The California City (City Council) voted 5-0 to sign a contract to allow the Pecos League to play at Balstis Park. The Chamber of Commerce of California City will come up with funding in a combination of private donations and alloted city funds.
