5/22/2012-The Las Cruces Vaqueros are in first place in the Pecos League with a record of 6-1. They are averaging 16.1 runs per game. "These guys can really hit." says Trinidad Manager Justin Lowery who lost to the Vaqueros 20-12. The Vaqueros are being lead by Trevor Whyte who has a batting average of .682 through 7 games. He has 4 HR's and 19 rbi's. Steve Rinaudo is also been very hot hitting .636 with 15 rbis. Every starting on the Vaqueros has at least a .350 average. These numbers will cool off as the Vaqueros pack up and go on the road to lower altitude places like Roswell and Alpine. The Vaqueros are very excited about their upcoming trip to Santa Fe and Trinidad. In Santa Fe the Vaqueros can continue their guerilla style offense. The Vaqueros pitching hasn't been dominant but they lead the league with only 35 walks in 65 innings. They have a team ERA of 7.62
