Key at bat helps the Las Cruces Vaqueros defeat the White Sands Pupfish 10-9

Blake Johnson came off the bench and never even had to swing his bat as Johnson reached on a stolen base in the seven to lead the Las Cruces Vaqueros (5-14) to a 10-9 win over the White Sands Pupfish (12-8) on Monday at Apodaca Park.

Each team blasted the others pitching, and there were 19 total runs and 25 hits during the game. There were seven pitchers used in the game as the two managers searched for any way to finish it off.

Nick Howell led the Las Cruces Vaqueros offensive threat, as he got on base five times in the game. He scored two runs and had one RBI. He singled in the second, fourth, and fifth innings and doubled in the seventh inning.

Zack Tingen recorded his second win of the year for the Las Cruces Vaqueros. Tingen struck out none, walked one and gave up no hits.

Gary Burns ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just one inning, walked one, struck out none, and allowed no runs.
