Patrone stars as the Santa Fe Fuego defeat the Las Vegas Train Robbers 18-2

Matt Patrone hit two home runs to carry the Santa Fe Fuego (3-0) to an 18-2 win over the Las Vegas Train Robbers (0-3) at Fort Marcy Park.

The Santa Fe Fuego ran up the score, scoring runs at will until the final out. The Santa Fe Fuego scored six runs in the last three innings to finish off the blowout win. The Santa Fe Fuego scored eight runs in the first on the Santa Fe Fuego scored in the first on an RBI single by Chevas Numata, a hit by pitch, a sacrifice fly by David Brandt, a groundout by Ruben Rivera, an RBI single by Heath Nichols, and a three-run home run by Patrone.

Nichols recorded his first win of the year for the Santa Fe Fuego. He allowed two runs over six innings. He struck out six, walked two and surrendered eight hits.

DJ Russ was charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just three innings, walked one, struck out one, and allowed three runs.

Brandt, Patrone, Eddie Newton and Numata helped lead the Santa Fe Fuego. They combined for eight hits and 10 RBIs.
