9/24/2019-Below are 10 FAQ regarding to River Island Islanders Independent Baseball Team

1. Where would the team play?
Islanders Field in River Islands. The team would coordinate home dates with other events that are currently being scheduled there. Games would be at night in June and July and first part of August.

2. What league would the team play in?
The Pecos League. The team would play in the Pacific Division with San Rafael Pacifics, Martinez Sturgeon, Santa Cruz Seaweed, Monterey Amberjacks, Bakersfield Train Robbers and Wasco Reserve.

The Pecos League has two divisions a Mountain Division (Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, Texas and Kansas) and Pacific Division (California). The two divisions do not cross over except in Championship Series. 3. What would the team be called?
River Islands Islanders.

4. Who is the team affiliated with?
The Pecos League is independent and is not affiliated with major league baseball. The Pecos League often promotes players to other affiliated baseball teams.

5. Will there be beer at games?
Yes

6. Where do the players come from where do they live?
The players are typically non-drafted College Seniors aged 25 and younger and come from all over California and all over the US. There are 16 rookies and 6 veterans on each team.

7. Who will run the team on day-to-day basis
The team will hire local people for game day positions.

8. Who will manage the team?
Coaching Staff will be assembled in early 2021.

9. When does the season run?
the season runs from June 2-August 3. Spring Training is one week from May 23-June 1

10. Why River Islands?
In the 2020 the Pecos League announced it would expand to Martinez and San Rafael for the 2021 season.

River Islands is an ideal location for a team in the Northern Division of the Pacific Conference of the Pecos League with close proximity to San Rafael, Santa Cruz and Martinez and a brand new state of the art ballpark, River Islands is an ideal location for a Pecos League Team.
