Saguaros Use Early Burst to Defeat Osos

July 25 2018 The Tucson Saguaros defeated the Ruidoso Osos 7-4 at Saguaros Park. Tucson collected 10 hits and scored four runs in the third inning to take control, adding another run in the fourth and two more in the sixth. Ruidoso answered with two runs in the fifth and two in the seventh but could not complete the comeback.

Lawrence Chavez led Tucson with two hits, two runs and two RBI, including a solo home run. Austin Hoffman went 3-for-4 with a double, one run and one RBI. Kevin Carr added one hit, two walks and two RBI, while Kevin Baron and Corey Davis Jr. also drove in runs. Jaquese Moore scored once and stole a base.

Tatum Hendrix earned the win for Tucson after allowing six hits and four runs, two earned, in seven innings. He walked four and struck out three. Steve Leavitt took the loss for Ruidoso, giving up seven hits and five runs, three earned, in four innings while striking out three and walking four.

James Garnett provided Ruidoso’s top offensive performance, going 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles and four RBI. Ruidoso finished with six hits, while Tucson turned one double play and both teams committed one error.
